Who We Are
iPowerboat is an established RYA Training School based at Ballachulish on the west coast of Scotland,
surrounded by the towering mountains of Glencoe, we by far have the best location for using a powerboat.
iPowerboat specialises in powerboat training and runs recognised RYA courses from beginners to Advanced level.
Our location provides the perfect environment for training, we have sheltered, secluded bays for practising,
and improving your skills. Within a stones throw we can be in the Corran Narrows which can provide a more
challenging environment for improving offshore skills.
"Anthem 2" is the main training vessel. It is a commercial Ribquest 6.3m Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB)
custom built and designed specifically for training and handling challenging seas.
Anthem 2 is powered by a 140hp 4 stroke Suzuki outboard, which allows to comfortably cruise at 30 knots,
and has a top speed of 45 knots. All the latest safety equipment is carried aboard, and life jackets are
mandatory. There is a chart plotter fitted which allows you to learn traditional as well as 21st century
navigation techniques.
Location
Ballachulish
Ballachulish is located approximately 15 miles south of Fort William and about 30 miles
north of Oban. Glasgow is 90 miles away. Regular public transport services pass through
and near to Ballachulish, allowing you to arrive with out having to drive!
1 mile away is the historic village of Glencoe, famous for the Glencoe Massacre.
The Mountains tower over Loch Leven provide a perfect opportunity to capture dramatic photo's.
Loch Leven itself provides perfect shelter, so even if the forecast is looking unsettled,

Professional Practices and Responsibilities
An online course for all new and re-validating RYA Commercial Endorsement holders, from April 2012 onwards.
Each year approximately 4,500 people apply to the RYA for a commercial endorsement in order to use their RYA qualifications professionally as skipper or crew. They could be doing anything from delivering a new 35’ yacht for its owner or driving a workboat with lifting and towing gear, to running a superyacht in the Med, complete with a large crew to manage. Whatever their job is on board, in the commercial world they are a professional seafarer. As such, they are no different from the captain of a cruise liner – they have a duty of care to crew, passengers, and other water users, and will be held to account if things go wrong. This course is for all those people.
